As a member of the ELCA Synod of the Lutheran Church, a lot of members are now finding concerns in the posted position of the ELCA. They have now become a sanctuary church and while saying “don’t break laws” they have ordered congregations to welcome all illegals and provide them with support against our ICE officers.
It appears to some that our existing laws prohibit that action, and we are encouraged to do whatever they say and assist those that have been ordered by the federal courts to be deported. Thay have told us to resist, block and attack those sworn officers which is also illegal in this country. This started back in 2019 with the ELCA assembly declaring us as a sanctuary church.
